The project I exhibited in December 2016 at the Topolski Studio exhibition was on Billingsgate Fish Market. I documented, observed and interviewed fish porters in London.
“As another day draws to a close in the capital, the night time world of London's whole sale food market is beginning to stir. I have been visiting Britain's biggest inland fish market, lying in the shadows of Canary wharf, to document what goes on inside! Billingsgate is a slice of old London, who's value and traditions are as old as the city itself... But London is changing! On the 28th of April 2012, a centuries-old way of life came to an end as the fish porters in existence since 1699 had their licenses withdrawn by the city of London... The first step towards moving it out and redeveloping the site.”
